Purpose
As avid music listeners, who have witnessed firsthand the benefits of utilizing music to recover, we believe that everyone who feels powerless when facing life needs to use music as a medicine. So many family members and friends experience loss, heartbreak, depression, and anxiety. They feel powerless and begin to spiral down a path that will not grant them any solvency; they rely on temporary highs and lows. We want people to know that music can be used to help them push through the hardships in life by motivating and inspiring them to be better than they were in that moment. We want to bring awareness to the problems that people carry in life, and use music as a platform to bring people, who feel like they don't have power, together to create something worth living for.
Blueprint
We're holding a musical session with an assembly of teens and young adults to share their stories of pain to exhibit how music accompanied them through the dark moments in their life. We also believe that sharing the music which helped them conquer these hardships will be very beneficial to everyone in attendance, because songs tell stories in ways that many individuals can't. The tone of the lyrics, the lyrics themselves, and most importantly the beat, help tell someone's story of pain. Music is an antidote, and everyone deserves to be free of the pain that imprisons them.
The Hope
Our short term-goal for this project is to bring awareness to depression, anxiety, and drug/alcohol addiction through the power of music. We believe that the best way to accomplish this goal is by having everyone share a song or two that helped them get through the adversities of life. All in hopes of giving others inspiration to help make a change within themselves. After sharing these songs, everyone will elaborate on what that song means to them and their life at that point in time. This will be the first step to completing the ultimate goal.
The ultimate goal of this project is to provide help for people that suffer from anxiety, depression, and drug and alcohol addiction. It's hard to find your voice when you're at your lowest point, and that is why people begin to deteriorate physically, mentally, and spiritually. This leads to one problem after another, until you're almost incapable of living a healthy life. We want people to know that music can be their voice, and it can be a healthier, alternative "drug" to cure the pain that we all must go through.
